I just received some awesome news from my friend Jonathan Villanueva that his short film that he wrote and directed that I was the cinematographer on will premiere this coming Friday, January 31st at the SVA in New York. He said the place is sold out which holds 300 people and how he described it, it’s going to be big! Producers, filmmakers, actors and many others will be there however I don’t know if they are aspiring or already established. Either way there will be plenty of people to mingle with and build connections which is always a plus.
The way that I see it is you never know where those individuals will be and that’s why its important to build relationships and not burn bridges. Jonathan also told me that he has a friend who has access to a theater with 600 seats and if he likes the film he will open the door for us to show it there as well. Earlier in the week he had told me one of his friends wants to showcase his film at her screening for Valentines Day weekend which is perfect because this film is a romcom.
It’s nice to see a project that we put so much energy into come to life and be presented in front of so many people especially on the big screen. Jonathan eventually wants to pitch this film to producers as a feature film. The film is called How To Test Your One Night Stand and it’s about a young woman that was burned from her previous relationship and is out to look for something new but in order to see if she will come across the same type of guy she puts him to the test. It’s a film that many can relate to now a days because of the reality of it.
We definitely have more ideas brewing which are in the ranges of comedy, horror and drama. We want to see where we excel at and where our weaknesses are so that we can improve on them. I know this is a short blog but that’s all I have to say for now until after next week I will definitely write about how the whole event goes.
